Stella Sola Kennels is the name given by Rick and Anita Todd for our passion and commitment to the Spinone breed.   We have both owned and hunted with several other breeds, and find the sound field characteristics and wonderful temperament of this breed to be worth our long term commitment to safeguard and continue these characteristics.  

One of the most important characteristics of the Spinone is its temperament.  They are extremely docile, easy going, and personable to other humans and other dogs.  Their wonderful personality is certainly derived from centuries of working with humans, cooperating in tasks, and producing game for its owners table for hundreds of Spinoni generations. 

The Spinone is a dog that is content in the home and does not need extended periods of exercise like many sporting breeds, though a daily workout is encouraged.  For this reason, you will find Spinone living in apartments, in the suburbs, and in the country.  They are extremely intelligent dogs which also means they can be stubborn if they think what you’re asking does not suit them.  Interacting with your Spinone frequently and being deliberate about how you handle your dog will make for an extraordinary man and dog relationship.
